Type Locality and Naming

It was named by Lin Baoyu and Qiu Hongrong in 1983. The type section is located at the upper slope, about 1 km southeast of Kede Village, Pazhug Township, Tingri County, the Xizang Zizhiqu.

Synonym: (帕卓组)


Lithology and Thickness

It consists of gray medium-bedded limestone with a 1.5 m-thick bed of siliceous rock at its base. The thickness of the formation varies slightly. According to Yang Zengrong it is only 8 m in measured thickness at the type section.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

It rests conformably onto the underlying Gayang Fm

Upper contact

It rests conformably below the overlying Zhaxigang Fm (not in lexicon); regionally, the next younger unit is the Ronggama Fm of early Carboniferous.

Regional extent

The exposures are observed merely at Pazhug in Tingri County.

Fossils

The formation bears rich fossils of gastropod, conodont, etc., such as conodont Ozarkodina remscheidensis eosteinhonensis, O. excavata excavate.
